Dinner with Friends

Last Wednesday we had dinner with friends. Wine from Italy, blocks of cheese from all over the world and homemade pates whetted our appetites for dinner. Wishing I did not have to work the next day, I opted to begin my Thanksgiving a week early.

Dinner: Mixed greens with homemade vinaigrette and pecans, lamb ragu with garlic bread made with olive oil. Dessert: Chocolate bread pudding and lemon tart, all homemade. I think the ragu was made days ahead, partly because it was a "school night" and it was fabulous.

Breakfast the next day was a thick cup of french-pressed regular coffee as it was my last "shift" at 600 a.m.

Fenz Shrimp Dumplings

Yum! I ordered a "to go" of the shrimp dumplings - uncooked. "Homemade" at Fenz; I just put the dumplings in a saute pan for my man who is on his way home from a short trip to Florida.

Wow. The wrapping is handmade. Brad and I buy many variations of frozen dumplings from our local Asian market and fresh dumplings are awesome.

I hope I don't eat them before he gets home. The sauce is orange in color and has a taste of carrot? Gosh, I can't tell as I dipped my finger into the sauce. Not peanut taste; ah! spicy squash flavor. Hmmmm.

Shallow

After having a solo night out at Fenz's (yummy shrimp dumplings, sweet potato fries and a Malbec), I came home and got sucked into "Entertainment Tonight".

Whoa. This picture does not do him justice but whoa - he is hot. He did cute things on the Entertainment Tonight. Great smile.

No, just ONE glass of wine. Really.

Armistice Day

In 1953, we called it Veteran's Day, honoring our veterans and remembering those that had perished in all wars that the United States had fought.

I honor our veterans (mom, dad, grandfather and cousins) and call for remembrance of the sacrifices men and women made during WWI in order to ensure peace.

Another great series to hear some stories from WWII would be The War: A Ken Burns Film. Or, over the holidays, see if you can tap into the personal stories of your grandfathers, grandmothers, grand aunts, that have served our country.

Let us not forget the Action in Korea.

Honoring our Veterans and Hoping for Peace.

President-Elect Barak Obama

Amazing. Those tears flowed again. Even my cats knew something happened. Smeagol, who is not a lap cat and was in bed with Brad hours earlier, came down at midnight and sat not just on my lap but on top of my bellie and lap.
The little guy walked right up to my face, looked for moment, purring forever and sat right down for an hour. He was happy, I was happy.

"Ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man"

Look who we ran into on our way to a weekend of bike racing in Michigan back in September. :-) Don't be fooled by these photos. They may not really revealed who we voted for today, either.

411 and 412

Feeling a little under the weather, I dragged myself to the polls right before the lunch hour rush. Brad and I bee-lined to the steps as retirees took the ramps. Minimal wait as the rush was right behind us.

It is just amazing watching the news channels with the massive waits to vote across the country. I have been brought to tears 3 too many times. It is an honor to be an American.

Continuation of Little Horse Ride to Llama Trail

We are still learning how to make movies. We have been splitting one video to provide shorter vignettes. Ober and Clinton hammering the Red Rocks.
